Gaza City: Gunmen opened fire on the home of Palestinian Prime Minister Esmail Haniya early on Monday as violence continued in Gaza.

Haniya lives in the Shati refugee camp next to Gaza City.

It is unclear whether Haniya was the target of the attack or his security guards. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The incident followed a day of violence on Sunday in which four people were killed and at least 36 wounded in clashes between the rival groups.

In one incident on Sunday, Hamas militants kidnapped an officer in a Fatah-linked security force and killed him by throwing him from the roof of a 15-storey building.

Also on Sunday, gunmen killed a Hamas preacher and threw a Hamas activist off a building. Militants also kidnapped a Fatah-linked officer and killed him by throwing him off the roof a 15-storey building.
