Qatar and Morocco have signed a military cooperation agreement promote training and technology transfer in defence sector.

The agreement was signed in Rabat, the Moroccan capital, by the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, Major General Hamad Bin Ali Al Atiyyah and Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Taieb Fassi Fihri, Qatar News Agency said.

Fihri said that the agreement and the exchange of expertise were part of the "robust relations between Morocco and Qatar."

The minister said that bilateral cooperation was not confined to the economy and political dialogue, but also included security and stability, adding that there was a constant exchange of experiences and dialogue between military officials in the two countries.

Relations between Morocco and Qatar have witnessed "a significant jump forward" and that the peoples of both countries were "proud with this type of cooperation between two Arab countries," the minister said.

Al Atiyyah, on a three-day visit to Morocco, said that the military agreement was part of a strategic vision and that it would help reinforce bilateral relations.
