Dubai: Lebanese pop diva Haifa Wehbe, the Arab world's best-known sex symbol, has come under harsh criticism for appearing in a new music video filmed in an old monastery, Al Arabiya reported.

The Lebanese press lambasted the singer for offending Christians.

Also, in the latest music video, Mosh Adra Astana (I Can't Wait), Haifa is seen coming out of a swimming pool wearing a bikini. Yahia Sada, the director, has been criticised for filming the singer in revealing clothes.

Censorship

Many scenes break Arabian television's censorship rules. Some people even consider it closer to porn.

Many fans are outraged that the singer used Christian icons in the music video.

Some even believe that it is an attack on Christians. A church leader urged authorities to prevent Lebanese TV channels from broadcasting the video.

The leader said the music video is an insult to the feelings of Christians.
