Ramallah: A Jordanian man has reunited with his family after over 50 years of separation after Facebook helped them reconnect.

The man went missing from his house in Amman as a teenager and the family had not heard from him since.

Abdullah Al Tartori, a relative of the missing man and also a law student at the World Islamic Science and Education University in Amman, described the reunion as the “miracle of the year”.

“After 50 years, a Jordanian family found a missing family member in Lebanon on Facebook,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“We finally found my father’s uncle with the help of a neighbour who was able to pinpoint his whereabouts.”

A huge family delegation led by Al Tartori family chief Attallah travelled to Lebanon where they were welcomed by Lebanese Bedouin tribes, which had been hosting the missing man all through.

The missing person has since returned to live with his family in Amman.
