Cairo: An Egyptian court Sunday threw out a lawsuit against actress Entissar, who has caused a big star in the conservative country for defending porn films.

The Nasr City Misdemeanour Court in Cairo said the lawyer who had filed the suit against the actress suffered no “personal and criminal damage” from her.

There was no immediate comment from the 44-year-old actress.

Lawyer Hani Jad was among several people who had brought legal action against Entissar, accusing her of promoting immorality and depravity.

The trial, which opened in November, was the latest in Egypt involving entertainers charged with inciting debauchery, an offence punishable by up to a year in prison.

Last October, Entissar said it was OK for young people who cannot afford the high costs of marriage to watch porn films.

“He who fears falling into a [sexual] sin prohibited by religion can cool down by watching porn films,” she said on a popular TV show

“These films are useful for men, especially those who have no pre-marriage sex experience,” she added on “Nafsana”, a show she co-hosts on the private TV station Al Qahera Wal Nas.

Entissar, who is a Muslim mother, admitted on the same episode to have watched porn films, rejecting any bid to block sex websites or TV stations.

Later, she said her remarks were taken out of context, adding that she was confident the court would acquit her.

Entissar is famous for comic roles in local TV serials and films.
