Cairo: American Vice President Dick Cheney has met with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday as part of his tour of the Middle East.
The Egyptian state news agency MENA said the agenda for the working breakfast included Iraq, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the implications of the ill health of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and new developments in Syria and Lebanon.
After leaving Egypt, Cheney will then head to Saudi Arabia for talks with King Abdullah.
He is also due to meet with Lebanese politician Saad al-Hariri, son of assassinated former Prime Minister Rafik al-Hariri, at the airport in Riyadh.
It was not known whether Cheney discussed the the broader issue of democratic reform in Egypt or the jailing of Egyptian opposition politician Ayman Nour, an event which drew sharp criticism from the US.
Cheney will also fly into Kuwait on Wednesday to pay his respects after the death of the country's emir, Shaik Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah.
