Cairo: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met Thursday with Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al Sissi.

During the meeting held in Cairo, Shaikh Abdullah and Al Sissi exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, as well as recent developments concerning regional and international events. They stressed the need to exert all necessary efforts to combat terrorism and extremism in the region and achieve peace, security and stability.

Shaikh Abdullah and Al Sissi spoke about the historic relations between UAE and Egypt. The meeting also touched on development and growth of bilateral relations thanks to the support of both countries’ leaders in order to achieve joint strategic interests.

Shaikh Abdullah was in Cairo participating in the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers, held in Cairo on Thursday ahead of the 146th ordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level.

The participants discussed major topics, notably, the Palestinian issue, and crises in Syria, Libya and Yemen, as well as efforts to combat terrorism. They also addressed the Iranian and Turkish interference in the internal affairs of the region.

They discussed efforts to rid the Middle East of nuclear weapons as well as development and reforms in the Arab League.

The meeting was attended by Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Khemaies Jhinaoui, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia, whose country chairs the current session, and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League.
