Three policemen and a local government guard have been killed in two separate attacks in Algeria.

The attacks, which were reported on Tuesday, are blamed on Islamic militants.

The policemen died on Monday when rebels ambushed a patrol near Hadjaret Enes, 100 km west of the capital Algiers, El Watan newspaper said quoting informed sources.

A local government guard died in a separate bomb attack on Sunday during a patrol of an area near Ain Defla 120 km west of Algiers, Le Quotidien d'Oran daily said.

Up to 200, 000 people have died since Algeria plunged into civil war in 1992.
