Abu Dhabi: Over 100,000 people have visited the Shaikh Zayed Heritage Festival, according to the organisers. Launched on November 20, the festival is scheduled to run until December 12.

Held under the patronage of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Shaikh Zayed Heritage Festival seeks to showcase and celebrate the UAE’s culture, traditions and history coinciding with the country’s 43rd National Day.

Speaking on the success of the festival so far, Humaid Al Neyadi, Vice-Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee of the Shaikh Zayed Heritage Festival 2014, said, “Attracting over 100,000 visitors in the first week of our 22-day festival is a remarkable achievement. We are thrilled because this overwhelming response from the public is a vote of confidence that confirms we are on the right path. This festival has already exceeded all our expectations for this year, and we look forward to offering various activities that showcase our heritage.”

A fireworks show has been scheduled on December 2 as part of the Festival besides concerts at the main venue on December 1 and 2, with Emirati performers such as Aida al Menhali, Fatima Zahrat Al Ain, Aryaam, and Fayez Al Saeed all set to perform.
