Dubai: Dubai Municipality has approved the setting up of the first sector park in Hatta at an estimated cost of Dh15 million to add a distinct facility to the UAE’s rich heritage and an outlet for people in Hatta.

The park, located near Hatta rocky mountains, will provide a charming view offering visitors a glimpse into Dubai’s rich history in mountainous areas, which have become an important heritage site for tourists and residents to spend enjoyable times during weekends.

Eng Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said the construction of a new park in Hatta comes in line with the municipality’s strategy to provide outstanding leisure facilities for Dubai’s community.

Work on the project will commence in early 2015, and will be completed within a year.

The park will be a new addition to service facilities and tourism and leisure projects in Hatta, which is characterised by its distinctive heritage nature, Lootah said. The selection of Hatta to be home to the new park is because it serves as an important tourist and heritage hub, thereby it will an attraction for those seeking tranquillity and lovers of adventures and discovery trips in Hatta, he added.

Lootah stressed that the municipality is keen to implement this project in a manner that would maintain the civilised image of Dubai.
