Dubai: Thabit Zahran Al Abdul Salam has been a loyal reader of Gulf News for more than two decades.
An Omani married to a UAE national, he has four children, Dana, 13 years, Layana, 12 years, Sarah, 3 years and Omar, 1 year. He is living, with his family, in Abu Dhabi.
He said: "I have been reading Gulf News for more than 20 years now, because I find it to be the best paper in the UAE.
"Indeed, the quality of its production is on a par or surpasses many newspapers not only in the UAE, but also in other parts of the world. I have had Gulf News delivered to my home since 2001 [when he started subscribing to the paper]."
He preferred Gulf News to other papers due to its wide coverage and overall impact, "content- and design-wise".
He said: "The presentation of reports and overall look has continued to improve. My family and I have many cherished memories with Gulf News. Perhaps the most memorable was the coverage of the establishment of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the recent Manchester United European championship triumph.
"Gulf News has enabled me to be well-informed not only about the world's current affairs but also about other aspects of life such as sports, living and economics. And in this way it has been part of the process of making me more aware."
When travelling abroad, he logs on to www.gulfnews.com, to keep abreast of what's happening in the region.
He said: "To a certain extent, the online edition and videos add to my Gulf News experience. Although I am not a frequent user of the online edition, I like to see news presented from the perspective of my culture and region. This is the reason that I seek out Gulf News when I am abroad."
The newspaper has helped increase his awareness ofthe world, along with other aspects of life.
