Abu Dhabi Sky News Arabia, a new Arabic news channel, will begin its transmission today at 8pm from its studios in Abu Dhabi.

Sky News Arabia Director Nart Bouran, said the Sky News Arabia team has made tremendous efforts during the past two years to launch an independent news service that will present fast news and latest developments round-the-clock via various mediums and forums.

He said the new channel will adopt new criteria for news coverage in the Arab world.

Sky News will broadcast via Arabsat, frequency Badr 4, Transponder 15, and Nile Sat, frequency 201, transponder 14.

"Sky News is committed to a fast and graceful tempo, and will cover the events and follow up the news development. Sky News focuses on offering the contents through the various mediums and forums, which include television, smartphones, and internet, to present the news to the audience and those interested in the way they want," Bouran said.

Sky News Arabia aims to be a distinguished channel in HD and SD technology transmission in the region.

"We expect the channel also to be a leader in the quality of editing the news, especially in the strategy that gives the audience opinions suitable space in order to crystallise the continuous coverage by Sky News Arabia", Bouran said. "Our base is to cover the subjects that interest our audience at the optimum time in the way they prefer," he added.

Bouran promised that Sky News Arabia will strengthen its presence on the map of the Arab media in the light of its distinguished coverage of many events that prevail over the region.

Bouran said the experience of watching the Sky News Arabia channel will be different, as it will present fast news round the clock.

Dr Sultan Al Jaber, Board Chairman of Sky News, said: "The channel will be a unique experience for the new Arab generation as it will offer the highest possible standards of technology and live coverage of breaking news and events happening across the world with a high level of credibility and professionalism."

The channel will use multimedia methods in offering news services to provide the news and the latest developments to viewers at the time and in the way they want, he added.

Channels: Free-to-air

The channel will broadcast free-to-air on Transponder 15 on Arabsat Badr 4, Transponder 14 on Nilesat 201. It can also be viewed on du IPTV channel 16, Etisalat e-Life channel 234, channel 122 in high definition and channel 123 in standard definition on the OSN pay-TV platform as well as in high definition on the Abu Dhabi TV network.
