Sharjah: Octavia Nasr, who was fired last July as CNN's senior Middle East editor after 20 years with the US-based news channel for being sympathetic to a Hezbollah leader, will give a lecture at the Sharjah International Book Fair.

The lecture will be held at the Sharjah Expo on Tuesday at 8pm and is free of charge and open to the public.

"Her lecture will involve discussing the impact of media on society, and also talk about her experience in the media profession," said Ahmad Al Amri, Director of Sharjah International Book Fair.

The Guardian newspaper reported on July 8 that Nasr had offered condolences over the death in Beirut of Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Hussain Fadlallah, who was instrumental in the establishment of Hezbollah in Lebanon written on her official CNN Twitter account.

Fadlallah, 74, was Hezbollah's spiritual leader when it formed after Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982.
