Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh appointed chief of section

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued law No 2 of 2010, establishing the Dubai Government Media Office.
The creation of the new unit, an affiliate of the Dubai Ruler's Court, comes within efforts to enhance channels of communication with the local, Arab and international media community.
It also involves mobilising necessary resources and potential to convey an accurate image of events going on in Dubai, and the emirate's message clearly and effectively in line with the highest international professional standards and practices.
The law stipulates that the Dubai Press Club and Falcon and Associates will come under the umbrella of the new office.
All these units will join forces to ensure the highest levels of inter-coordination with the aim of auditing information and standardising media messages.
Official channel
This is aimed at finding a dynamic, official channel serving as a focal centre to supply various media outlets with accurate news and information regarding the ruler and government of Dubai clearly and without any ambiguity.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Mohammad issued a decree appointing Ahmad Abdullah Al Shaikh, Media Aide to Shaikh Mohammad, as director-general of the new office.
Both the law and the decree are effective from the date of issuance and are to be published in the official gazette.
The new unit will coordinate with concerned government bodies to provide media outlets with news on the activities of Shaikh Mohammad and the Dubai government, as well as to organise press conferences with the ruler and government officials.
Monitoring reactions
It will also coordinate with media representatives to attend briefings and interviews with the Ruler, Crown Prince of Dubai and senior government officials and various media outlets, and follow up their transmission as well as monitor their impact, feedback and public reaction to them.
The office will monitor and analyse what is published by local, Arab and international media organisations about Dubai and the latest public opinion trends regarding events in Dubai.
It will also monitor news and analyses on activities of the government and its officials and compile reports based on accurate scientific methods to be submitted to the Ruler's Court.
