Dubai: Challenges to journalism in the digital era will be the highlight of a dedicated session at the ninth Arab Media Forum in Dubai.

The Press Club on Monday announced that Michael Golden, Vice-Chairman, Board of Directors, the New York Times Company, and President and Chief Operating Officer, the New York Times Company Regional Media Group, will highlight the challenges to journalism in the digital era.

Organised under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the event with the theme ‘Shifting Mediascape… Inspiring Content, Expanding Reach' will be held from May 12 to 13 at The Atlantis-Palm.

Golden will share his experience as a top executive with the New York Times Company. The session will be moderated by Dr Hessa Lootah, Associate Professor of the Department of Mass Communications at the UAE University.

Established in 1851, the New York Times Company is one of the most important media organisations in the world. It includes New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Boston Globe, 15 other daily newspapers and more than 50 websites, including NYTimes.com, Boston.com and About.com. The newspaper has won nearly 100 Pulitzer prizes, one of the most prestigious journalism awards in the US.

Golden is also Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors for the International Centre for Journalists, a Washington DC-based non-profit organisation to raises journalism standards.
