Sharjah: FUNN Sharjah Media Arts for Children and Youth has announced the launch of the organization and the “FUNN Media Arts Exhibition 2012” at a press conference held at the Executive Office of Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness Dr Shaikh SultanBin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Sharjah Family Supreme Council,.

Under the patronage of Shaikha Jawaher, the conference introduced the organization’s aims which focused on supporting and promoting the study of media art among the youth of the country. The event will run from November 27- December 6. The exhibition will include 70 students from private schools and children’s centres in Sharjah who will exhibit their works in art media.

“The School Partnerships assisted us in developing new opportunities to reach as many talented children as possible, and highlighted talent by bringing it to the stage,” said Jawaher Abdullah Al Qasimi, FUNN’s assistant manager who highlighted that the organization has partnered with local institutions such as Al Qasba, Sharjah Children and Girls Centres and many other private sector schools.

The pieces showcased at the FUNN Media Arts Exhibition 2012 will include works prepared by children during FUNN workshops which took place earlier this year. The exhibition also aims to encourage and motivate young artists to continue creating works in the field of Media Art through self expression.

During this year, FUNN had organized an international film screening and sessions were organized in three selected Sharjah schools over six days. About 3,000 children attended the screenings which included short films from eight different countries, presented to inspire children to actively learn through media.

FUNN also hosted a number of workshops in media arts such as photography, digital collage, graphic design, animation and filmmaking which enabled students to create their own art work.
