Dubai: Two strategic sessions will headline the second day of the 11th Arab Media Forum, the region's leading media gathering of media personalities, leaders and political figures which will be held on May 8-9.

Organised by the Dubai Press Club, the sessions will be held under the umbrella theme ‘Arab Media: Exposure and Transition'. The first session is titled ‘YouTube Channels: Individual Platforms that Compete with Satellite Stations'. Its aim is to examine the success of YouTube channels that have registered high popularity on the back of increased internet usage and ability to connect with the youth in the Arab world.

It will be moderated by Ola Al Fares from MBC and the discussion will feature renowned anchors including Akram Hosni, Dr. Bassem Yousuf and Omar Hussain.

The second session is titled ‘Television Production: Where is the Innovation?' and will study the television's increased dependence on western media.

The session will raise the issue that decision makers at Arab satellite stations are content with ‘buying and collecting' rather than making an effort to produce distinctive work as well as identify stumbling blocks for the decline of creativity in Arab media houses. It will be moderated by talk show host Reem Maged from ‘On TV'.
