Sharjah: A new television channel for the cities of Kalba, Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al Hosn was launched yesterday by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
During the launch of Al Sharqia (Arabic for East) TV Channel, Dr Shaikh Sultan said that Sharjah’s Eastern Region is developing in line with a clear vision and plan set through studies and comprehensive development strategies. He said that it is only natural to launch a TV channel that is specific to the region and serves its residents.
The statement was made by Dr Shaikh Sultan during the airing of the launch ceremony on Al Sharqia.
He pointed out that the channel’s official inauguration also coincides with the silver jubilee of Sharjah Media Corporation.
Dr Shaikh Sultan extended his congratulations to the work team tasked with the launch of the channel.
“I would like to congratulate them, and I know that the only reason why the launch has taken so long is due to ensuring that the channel utilised the most advanced methods in TV broadcasting technology,” he said.
“Al Sharqia will serve many of the Eastern Region’s residents, enriching their ideas and knowledge. We are also keen on ensuring that job opportunities are available for citizens, and the channel will help them achieve their ambitions and serve their nation in general and the region in particular,” said Dr Shaikh Sultan.
