Al Ain Wadi Adventure — the Middle East's first man-made facility offering white water rafting, kayaking and surfing — officially opened to water sports enthusiasts on Sunday.
The facility has been developed by Tamouh, the Abu Dhabi-based master developers of Reem Island, right in the foothills of Jebel Hafeet.
"We are delighted to launch Wadi Adventure, which marks Tamouh's foray into the entertainment sector and adds a new feature to Al Ain's tourist map," Joe Ong, managing director of Tamouh, said. He said the water park contributes to Abu Dhabi's vision to position itself as a key tourist attraction.
Safe environment
Over the past three years, Ong said, Tamouh has worked closely with the Abu Dhabi Government on the development of Wadi Adventure. "We look forward to welcoming both UAE residents and tourists to the park, offering adventure and water activities in a safe environment," he added.
Ideal for professional surfers, amateurs and families, Wadi Adventure's rides conform to stringent safety standards to ensure visitors' protection. All guests are briefed on safety instructions prior to entering the facility and monitored by professional guides during their visit.
Water sport enthusiasts are also taught to surf in a controlled environment with certified instructors. The waves generated for surfing are adjusted to fit the individual's skill and experience, he said.
‘Convenient distance'
The adventure park features a surf pool that generates three-metre-high waves every 90 seconds. The facility also has three white water rafting and kayaking runs. They add up to a combined length of 1,133 metres.
"Located at a convenient distance from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Wadi Adventure enriches Jebel Hafeet's offering for thrill seekers through its activities such as a challenging rope course, tough climbing wall and a zip line," the facility operator said.
With a capacity to accommodate 1,000 people, the summits event centre at the park is ideal for hosting events such as product launches, corporate meetings and team-building activities as well as weddings and birthday parties.
