Dubai: Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) will celebrate UAE National Day (December 2) with a series of events planned until December 2.

The solidarity celebrations started with a traditional Mushaira poetry session on Friday. A number of prominent poets and literary personalities flew in for the event.

PAD Joint Secretary Tahir Zaidi said the events include a four-day food festival and Meena Bazaar shopping bonanza. Pakistani cooking show Masala TV, which features Shireen Anwar and Rida Aftab, will also participate.

There will be a kids corner, magic shows, live cooking demonstrations, raffle prizes, and Pakistani food and fashion stalls for four days from November 26 to 29.

This Friday, a desert fun drive will take place in Al Aweer desert under the supervision of marshals. There will also be a desert camp with entertainment.

Additionally, from November 17-21, PAD will organise a School Sports Festival involving football, throw-ball, table tennis and basketball. The event will be held in association with the UAE Ministry of Education.

On November 21, there will be an event titled “Iqbal and National Identity”, which will focus on the importance of UAE national identity awareness in coordination with Dubai’s Community Development Authority.

The event will also see the active participation of Pakistani community schools across the UAE presenting tableaus on national identity and Mohammad Iqbal, an essay competition and other activities.

The annual Solidarity Walk will take place on November 28. The 1.5-km walk will start from Pakistan Education Academy at 1:30pm and end at Pakistan Association Dubai.

On the same day, a health awareness Camp will be held at PAD, offering free health checks and awareness programmes.
