'The kavi sammelan and mushaira (poetry evening) is being held for the tenth consecutive year'
Dubai: A poetry evening will be held on Thursday evening at the Shaikh Rashid Auditorium of Indian High School in Dubai to mark the Republic Day of India.
The kavi sammelan and mushaira (poetry evening) is being held for the tenth consecutive year, chief organiser Syed Salahuddin has said. The event is a Dubai Shopping Festival 2012 official event.
Popular poets of Hindi and Urdu including Wasim Bareilvy, Gulzar Dehlvi, Dr Peer Zada Qasim, Omar Salim Mohdar Al Aidroos,Santosh Anand, Anis Ansari IAS, Popular Meerathi, Dr Kaleem Qaiser, Ramender Mohan Tirpathi, Nusrat Mehdi, Azm Shakri, Johar Kanpuri and Anwar Jalalpuri will recite their verses. The event will be conducted by Anwar Jalalpuri. Entry will be strictly by invitation.
A musical evening "Gharana - the concert"brings Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty and his daughter Kaushiki Chakrabarty Desikan to Dubai's Mall of the Emirates on Jan 27. Performing together for the first time, the event also marks the launch of Creative9, an event management company owned by Madhumita Dasgupta Roy and Deb Chakrabarty, who are active as singers in Dubai's fast evolving cultural milieu.
Pandit Ajay Chakrabarty said: "I travel all over the world for my concerts, but for me this Dubai concert is special in more ways than one. I will be performing with my daughter Kaushiki after a long time when she has carved her own niche among the new generation of Indian classical vocalists. This concert is organized by Madhumita and Deb who are dedicated singers themselves. What's more, they are also felicitating me on my 60th birthday ."
