Paintings and sculptures depict nation's achievements and problems
Abu Dhabi: Modern art produced over the last six decades in India will be displayed at an exhibition organised by the Indian embassy and the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage between November 12-28.
The exhibition will be held at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
A large number of young people in the Gulf are not as familiar with various aspects of Indian culture as their parents and grand-parents weren, Talmiz Ahmad, Indian ambassador, said.
He was announcing the exhibition "Spectrum" at the Indian embassy last evening.
As many as 106 paintings and sculptures of 81 modern Indian artists (works from 1947 to 2007) will be exhibited in the two-week event.
Diversity
"The artists are from various parts of India and different age groups, so they depict the diversity of India," the Indian ambassador said.
"Apart from the achievements of the country they are also ruthlessly reacting to the contemporary Indian problems like poverty and exploitation," Ahmad said.
