Abu Dhabi: Dubai residents will have a chance to watch prominent European films as European embassies in Abu Dhabi are extending their 'European movies project' to the city this year.
"We have been doing annual screening of the ‘European Movies' in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain for the last seven years and we are extending it to Dubai this year," the organisers announced at a press conference in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
About 14 movies from nine European countries will be screened in three cities, starting from the last week of October 2008 to second week of June 2009, said Andreas Maager, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Switzerland Embassy.
In Abu Dhabi, the films will be screened every Sunday at 8pm, starting from October 26 to June 7, 2009 at Grand Cinemas in Abu Dhabi Mall.
Dubai residents can watch the films on every Tuesday at 8pm, from October 28 to June 9, 2009 at Grand Cinemas-Mercato Mall. In Al Ain, it is on every Saturday at 5pm and 8pm, from November 1 to June 13, 2009, at Grand Rotana Cinemas.
A common entry pass for all films, costing Dh200 (Dh170 in Al Ain) is available at the abovementioned cinemas in three cities as well as at the Embassy of Switzerland in Abu Dhabi, Consulate General of Switzerland in Dubai and Ken Hendy in Al Ain.
