Al Qasba Theatre wins international design award

Sharjah: Al Qasba Theatre won the “Refurbishment of the Year” award at the LEAF Awards 2012. The award was giving during a ceremony on September 21, in London.

In its ninth edition, the annual LEAF Awards honours the architects designing the buildings and solutions that are setting the benchmark for the international architectural community. The theatre is designed by Magma architecture, and its design is rooted in the nature and history of Sharjah.

The design reflects the landscapes of Sharjah and has concealed lighting elements shining through stretchable fabric surfaces enhancing the spatial sensation of continuous enclosure.
