Dubai: With Safa Park out of the picture now considering the construction of the Dubai Canal, residents have an option to enjoy the outdoors in a nearby park, the newly revamped Al Khazan Park.

This family park, located between the first interchange on Shaikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Road, was recently revamped and is now entirely powered by solar energy systems. The whole park uses sustainable natural and artistic elements that echo Dubai’s approach to preserving nature.

Brand Dubai, a subsidiary of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, gave the park a facelift as part of the “Dubai Speaks to you” initiative that aims to highlight the unique characteristics of Dubai as a culturally diverse city.

The park now bears the theme “The Way to Happiness”, offering many ways to visitors to be ‘happy’ and immortalise this state in pictures.

Noura Al Abbar, Director of Communications and Innovation at the Dubai Media Office, said: “Brand Dubai initiatives and projects are distinguished by creativity and ability to express and connect with the public using various artistic tools. The Al Khazan Park project is characterised by simplicity to fit the surroundings. We hope the project will add artistic value to the place.”

While the greenery has yet to take root at the park’s grounds, visitors can take advantage of the benches that have been placed at the park to mimic a life-size photo frame, especially for people who love taking pictures of themselves.

The park officially opened to the public on Thursday.
