Dubai: Best-selling thriller author Jeffery Deaver will be starring in a 007-inspired Emirates Lit Fest event next month.

Deaver is the author of the new James Bond novel, which is due to be published on May 26. The book, which has been commissioned by the Ian Fleming Estate, is currently known simply as ‘Project X' and its plot is a closely guarded secret.

The January 18 Emirates Lit Fest event will be Deaver's first public appearance as a James Bond author, where he will discuss his love of all things Bond. The audience will be among the first to hear a little bit about his new book. He has already revealed that it is set in the present day with a number of exotic locations around the world woven into the plot.

Rich repertoire

Deaver has written 26 novels and sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, topping the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. He is best known for his Kathryn Dance and Lincoln Rhyme books, most notably The Bone Collector, which was adapted for film in 1999, starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie.

"For book lovers, Bond fans and anyone who can't wait until the start of the 2011 Emirates Airline Festival in March, Jeffery Deaver's return to Dubai should not missed", Isobel Abulhoul, Festival Director, said.

"His 2010 Emirates Lit Fest event was one of the most popular with festival-goers and I know his Bond evening will be another festival highlight."

Magrudy's, the official bookshop of Emirates Lit Fest, will be selling copies of Deaver's books at the January event, as well as previous Bond novels and biographies of a number of Bond actors, and Ian Fleming, the creator of the Bond character.

Following the event, Deaver's fans will have the opportunity to meet the author at a signing session. As his new James Bond book will not be available until May, Deaver has agreed to sign special book plates which can be inserted into the novel when it is released.

Author praises Dubai

"I'm quite excited about returning to Dubai to take part in this James Bond-inspired Emirates Lit Fest event. During my last trip, I found Dubai to be a truly inspirational city — a place of awe-inspiring sights, fascinating cultures and remarkable people," Deaver said.

The Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is held under the patronage of Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture.
