Dubai: The Al Mamzar Beach project and the Al Khor Front project were among the designs reviewed on Wednesday by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
During his visit to Dubai Municipality, Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by Engineer Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, on a number of development and services projects implemented by Dubai Municipality in different parts of the emirate.
Lootah briefed Shaikh Mohammad on the Al Mamzar Beach development project which is one of the investment projects carried out by the municipality, which will include the construction of shopping centres and recreational facilities.
Shaikh Mohammad was then briefed on the Al Khor Front project that will span an area of 120,000 square metres and will include the construction of three malls near the port. The project aims to develop Khor’s waterfront. Construction work will also include a three-floor parking lot with a capacity for 1,000 cars, and a 10,000 square metre pedestrian crossing that will be built above the port.
He then listened to an explanation covering Emirati housing projects in Al Barsha and Al Awir. Lootah also briefed Shaikh Mohammad on plans to build beach chalets in Jebel Ali. The project, consisting of the construction of ten chalets with an area of 600 square feet, aims to enhance the area’s position as a tourism and leisure destination. The project will be powered by solar cells.
National identity
Lootah also briefed Shaikh Mohammad on plans being undertaken by the municipality, both present and future, to renovate old markets in Dubai, which reflect the national identity and culture of the country. The explanation included heritage projects, such as the local products market project that will be made up of banquet halls, Arabic perfume shops, traditional clothing stores, restaurants serving traditional food, and maritime equipment stores.
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present.
Later, Shaikh Mohammad signed the heritage fingerprint, an initiative by the Urban Heritage Department that aims to consolidate the concept of UAE people’s national identity, values, and Arab and Islamic traditions.
He was then briefed on Dubai Municipality’s Emiratisation efforts.
At the conclusion of the visit, Shaikh Mohammad expressed his satisfaction and approved the projects being undertaken by the municipality. He said that such projects reflect positively on Emiratis and enhance the UAE’s regional and international position on the economic, cultural and tourism map.
He stressed that all development projects being carried out in all sectors serve Emiratis and provide a dignified life for them and their families. He added that such projects provide job opportunities for Emiratis to serve the process of development, economic prosperity and educational progress.
