Dubai: The Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs in Dubai has inspected 2399 facilities for compliance with the midday break ban, enforced by a resolution by Minister of Labour Saqr Gobash.

Brigadier Mohammad Al Marri, Chairman of the committee, said 15 inspectors visited the workplaces to ensure compliance of employers with the mandatory break for workers, which runs until September 15, and is aimed at keeping labourers out of the sun during the hottest hours, between 12.30 and 3pm.

A total of 2338 sites were found to be compliant with the ban and only 61 were in violation of it.

He noted that 121 such violations took place in July and August, 2009.
