Sharjah: Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) is organising a host of cultural and social activities to promote museums in the emirate and spread awareness of their vital role in social development, as part of its celebration of International Museum Day. Visits to Sharjah museums will be free for all from Tuesday to Saturday.

International Museum Day is celebrated annually on May 18, and this year the theme is Museums for Social Harmony. Sharjah Museums Department is organising workshops, seminars and museum tours as part of the activities.

Sharjah Art Museum is hosting a symposium on social harmony with the participation of private and public institutions on Tuesday. The museum in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut and Robert Bosch Stiftung will also host an exhibition titled Ambassadors on Thursday.

The SMD's Interpretation and Education Department is organising an Education Day for All on Wednesday at Sharjah Art Museums.

Sharjah Science Museum is organising a number of workshops and lectures on social harmony in cooperation with other government and private associations on Friday, while Sharjah Art Museum will organise workshops on Environmental Art on July 1, The blessed Palm Tree on July 8, The Holy Quran and Calligraphy on July 15 and Collage on July 22.
