Sharjah: The body of a 38-year-old worker was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his company accommodation in Industrial Area No 12 on Sunday afternoon, a police official said.
The worker is believed to have committed suicide using a rope, the official said.
His Asian roommates told police they tried to lift the man’s body when they saw it in an attempt to save his life. But their attempt was in vain as he was already dead.
Police and forensic teams went to the scene after receiving information about the incident at about 3.30pm. They removed the body and transferred it to Kuwaiti Hospital and then to the forensic laboratory for an autopsy.
Officials took fingerprints and other details from the scene to investigate the matter but so far they do not suspect anyone else was involved in the incident.
Police confirmed that the worker was reportedly suffering from depression due to psychological and social problems which, preliminary investigation suggests, may have prompted him to end his life.
Police have transferred the case to the Public Prosecution.
