Al Ain: Umm Al Quwain is planning an advanced emergency response service to deal with situations posing chemical, nuclear, and biological hazards in the emirate.
The development of the services would be based on a feasibility study that would be conducted by Roadway, Transportation and Traffic Safety Research Centre (RTTSRC) at UAE University.
A British organisation, the Emergency Centre of Lancashire, will also help the RTTSRC in the study.
Shaikh Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, recently signed an agreement with Dr Hadef Bin Jouan Al Daheri, vice-chancellor of the UAE University, for the feasibility study, said a source at the university's Provost Office.
The study will evaluate the immediate and future needs for emergency medical services, administrative and medical resources including staff, communications systems, operational schemes and logistic support services.
"The study will include plans for immediate effective response for emergencies," the source added.
