Abu Dhabi: The UAE Space Agency has organised a workshop on its Mars project, the Mars probe. A number of ideas were discussed, including the establishment of a scientific base for research and development in the field of space science and technology.

The workshop was attended by representatives from academic, industrial and governmental institutions across the country as well as individuals with a personal interest in the subject.

During the workshop, participants discussed introducing scientific disciplines and programmes in the curricula of universities that serve the sectors traditionally linked to space exploration initiatives.

The space agency’s objectives related to assisting the development of the space exploration industry nation-wide and enhancing cooperation with countries that have similar interests in the sector were also discussed.

Workshop participants acknowledged the pivotal role played by the UAE Space Agency and its Mars probe project in achieving international recognition for the UAE in the space industry, noting that the agency had contributed to the advancement of the academic, scientific and industrial branches of the country’s space exploration sector.
