Abu Dhabi: The National and Reserve Service Authority has announced that all 2013-2014 high school graduates must register at the registration centre nearest to their homes to determine their position within the recruitment system without delay.

The new graduates must have completed the registration procedures to get their military cards as soon as they receive a SMS text on their mobile phones.

Major General Shaikh Ahmad Bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, chairman of the National and Reserve Service Authority, stressed that all eligible recruits and their families must regard the notification very seriously and that all those who do not complete registration procedures will be considered as lagging behind in performing their national service.

Those who have not registered will come under Article No 36 of law No 6 for 2014 which shall be applied against them.

A circular was issued in coordination between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the National and Reserve Service Authority to the effect that no student will be allowed to enrol in any university or college without specifying his position regarding recruitment.

Maj Gen Al Nahyan congratulated the recruits who have completed registration and have received their military cards for their response and their commitment to heed the call of the homeland without delay.

He also praised the efforts made by the specialised authorities in the armed forces to complete registration procedures for the first batch in a record time, as everyone is working at full possible capacity for the success of the national service project.

He reiterated that no graduate student from public high school for the year 2013-2014 is excluded from visiting registration centres even if their school average is over 90 per cent or the student is a holder of a scholarship or has admission to a public university or a private university inside or outside the country.

Those who are permanently medically unfit, as per a decision from the medical committee, are also required to visit the registration centre.
