Dubai: As many as 35 companies from the UAE are participating in the Pakistan Expo — the largest trade fair of the country, said a senior diplomat. Dr Saeed Saeed Qadir, Commercial Counsellor at the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai told Gulf News that the Pakistan Expo will be held in Karachi Expo Centre from September 25-29.
President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain will inaugurate the show on September 25. The four-day-annual event will see more than 550 leading companies from manufacturing to services industry showcasing their products.
“International exhibitors from the US, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Iran, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Indonesia are also showcasing their products,” said Dr Qadir. Cultural and fashion shows will also be held on September 26 and 27 showcasing Pakistan’s textile industry and outfits of leading designers.
Qadir said that the delegate from the UAE would benefit from the investment opportunities available in Pakistan.
He noted the UAE is the second biggest trading partner of Pakistan in terms of bilateral trade and spring board for Pakistan’s re-export to GCC and other markets around the world with exports amounting $2.29 billion (Dh8.41 billion) and imports $7.67 billion from the UAE..
The UAE is also second biggest source of expatriate remittances amounting $2.9billion for the year 2012 in the GCC region. “The UAE is home of approximately 1.2 million expatriate Pakistanis engaged in UAE’s business, investment and services sectors and the participation of the UAE delegation in this Expo will greatly benefit businessmen from both the countries,” he said.
He said that Pakistan’s Trade Missions in the UAE in cooperation with Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Ministry of Commerce has been facilitating the visit of Emirates businessmen.
“Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, the organiser of annual flagship trade fair expects that more than 1,000 foreign delegates and buying mission from 70 countries will visit Expo Pakistan 2013,” said Qadir.
According to the Secretary and Acting Chairman, TDAP Ms. Rabia Javeri Agha, last year on occasion of 8th Expo Pakistan about 900 foreign buyers visited and the exhibitors got orders worth over $500 million. This year, TDAP expects over 1,000 buyers and a business of over $700 million.
