Dubai: The UAE and Oman yesterday agreed to clear all their differences during talks between the two countries' leaders, WAM reported.

According to a statement by WAM, as a result of tireless efforts by Kuwaiti Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah to clear the atmosphere between the UAE and Oman, Sultan Qaboos Bin Said received in Muscat His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

"Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid told Sultan Qaboos that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, fully supported Oman in maintaining and preserving its security and stability, out of its firm belief the security and stability of the region is indivisible," WAM said.

The Vice-President also described as "unacceptable" the recent protests in Oman, adding that "the UAE is opposed to anything that would endanger stability and security" of Oman. He conveyed the President's confidence in the ability of Sultan Qaboos and the people of Oman "to overcome any difficulties that Oman might face".

He said "the UAE will spare no effort to provide support to its brethren in Oman that would contribute to its stability, prosperity and growth," WAM said.

The two sides also "agreed to take all measures to clear the atmosphere in terms of relations and vowed not to allow anything to affect their historic ties", WAM reported.

On January 30, the UAE Foreign Ministry issued a statement expressing its surprise at an Omani report which claimed Muscat authorities had arrested "a spy network working for the UAE State Security Agency".

"The UAE categorically denies any knowledge or connection with this alleged network and is surprised to see its name thrown into such reports which go against its values and the way it deals with brotherly nations, especially the Sultanate of Oman".
