Abu Dhabi: Two advanced boats will serve passengers in the Western Region.

The water buses were inaugurated yesterday by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's representative in the Western Region, in Jabal Al Dannah.

The launching ceremony was attended by Shaikh Nahyan Bin Hamdan Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan and a number of senior officials.

Shaikh Hamdan inspected the two boats aboard which the CEO of the Transport authority made a brief presentation about the new water transporters which can operate in extreme weather conditions while offering the high standards of comfort.

Special needs

The boats have been built to facilitate easy use by people with special needs .

Shaikh Hamdan also stressed the interest of the government in developing the region in line with the orders of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to achieve sustainable growth, while enhancing the role and status of the UAE regionally and internationally.

Shaikh Hamdan also said these new projects are followed up by General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in his desire to enhance the facilities of the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport.

He added that the Abu Dhabi government seeks to boost economic and tourism growth in the Western Region by developing the infrastructure as envisaged by the Abu Dhabi vision of 2030.

Next phase

Shaikh Hamdan congratulated the people of Dalma Island over the launching of the two water buses as the project is considered a move to improve the quality of water transport in Abu Dhabi.

He also said that the coming phase will witness marine voyages between Abu Dhabi and its Islands.

Shaikh Hamdan also pointed out that the Western Region provides an excellent investment climate and he extended an invitation to the private sector to exploit the opportunities offered by the region.
