Dubai: People on twitter have responded positively to the #Dress1MillionNeedyChildren – both in English and Arabic- after the launch of the Dress one million needy children campaign by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Many users have retweeted Shaikh Mohammad’s own tweets about the campaign, many shared the campaign’s poster with the donation details, some tweeted the details and some shared their thoughts about the initiative using the hashtag.

The campaign is in collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent , and will run until Ramadan 19 (July 28). It aims to dress one million children around the world. Clothing one child costs Dh40.

People can donate through text messages, bank accounts and at the booths available in shopping malls.

Twitter user Nizar Jawad (@Dirnj) tweeted, “I love Dior shoes but before I buy them, I will think about the children that can’t buy normal shoes” and followed it with the hashtag #Dress1MillionNeedyChildren.

He later tweeted in Arabic that one should not only donate to charity during Ramadan and humanitarian crisis but one should make a habit out of it and do it all the time.

The campaigns twitter page had 590 followers by press time.

Sultan Al Badi, (@sultan_albadi) tweeted in Arabic that this a noble initiative and invited everyone to participate to increase the number of donations.

Shaikh Mohammad also tweeted the campaign posters in Arabic and in English, which was retweeted a total of 2,540 times at press time.
