Dubai: Dubai is going for the world record for the grandest fireworks display on New Year’s Eve, over The Palm Jumeirah and The World islands. There will also be spectacular pyrotechnics at other locations. Dubai Calendar brings you the top five spots for viewing fireworks.

] The Palm Jumeirah and Madinat Jumeirah: The shoreline along these two developments is a ringside seat to witness Dubai’s world record attempt, plus a viewing perch for fireworks from the Burj Al Arab hotel.

] Downtown Dubai: The favourite haunt for revellers eyeing fireworks from Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. With huge crowds expected as usual, visitors are advised to be in Downtown Dubai by 8pm.

] Dubai Festival City: On the other side of town? The creek side at Dubai Festival City will light up as the clock strikes midnight. The fireworks will be accompanied by a synchronised light and water show.

] Public beaches at JBR and Jumeirah: The coastline from Jumeirah Beach Residence, through Umm Suqeim, to Jumeirah is poised to offer views of all of New Dubai’s fireworks.

] Your home: Catch the celebrations live on Dubai TV, Sama Dubai and Dubai One. Featuring displays from The Palm Jumeirah and The World, Downtown Dubai and Burj Khalifa, and Burj Al Arab, the channels will be beaming the very best shots of the shows — including amazing aerial views — live and direct to your living room.
