Three-week-old baby girl found abandoned in Abu Dhabi park
At about 11pm on Thursday, the police central operations room received a call about a baby left alone in a park on Electra Street. A team of rescue officials rushed to the scene to find the baby girl in a pram with her feeding bottle.

Abu Dhabi: A baby girl, believed to be three weeks old, was found abandoned in a park on Thursday evening, Gulf News has learnt.
At about 11pm on Thursday, the police central operations room received a call about a baby left alone in a park on Electra Street. A team of rescue officials rushed to the scene to find the baby girl in a pram with her feeding bottle.
"When we found the baby she was lying in the pram, dressed in baby clothes and wearing a diaper, with a feeding bottle filled with milk next to her. Her towel was dripping wet, we are not sure how," said an official, who requested anonymity.
The baby is believed to have been left there since 7 in the evening, according to witness accounts. "Though we cannot know the exact age of the baby, the umbilical cord has already fallen off so we estimate her to be around three weeks of age," noted the official.
The baby was taken to the Corniche hospital first and then to Al Mafraq hospital. After both hospitals refused to admit the baby to neonatal care, the child was taken to Shaikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC).
Nationality unknown
After three nights of separation from her biological mother, the "unknown baby girl" as described in hospital records lay sound asleep as the Gulf News team visited the hospital.
Al Madinah Police station is currently investigating the case.
"She is healthy and is doing well," said a hospital employee, glancing over the baby, sleeping in a cot in the same room with a few others her age. Across the room, a nurse was pacifying a child who woke up from sleep. But this did not disturb her.
"After we complete the legal procedures and run blood tests the baby will go into a government institution," the staff said. "It is not possible to tell the nationality of the child at this stage. The age is estimated based on the growth of the baby."
The park where the baby was found did not have a security guard, a park employee said. Apart from the staff at the cash counter the park employs one more person who is in charge of watering the plants. "At 10pm the cash counter was closed and the incident happened after that ... so I do not know anything about it," he said.
