Telethon for Pakistani flood victims raises Dh85 million
The donations were received at RCA branches, the authority’s call centres, at some commercial centres and through SMS.

The campaign, under the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, saw the participation of various channels and radio stations across the UAE, such as Al Emarat, Ajman, Noor Dubai, Sharjah 2, Fujairah's Dunia, Ras Al Khaimah TV, GearOne, National Geographic, Music Plus and Al Waha.
The campaign was launched to raise donations and help the Pakistani people affected by the floods, estimated to be around 23 million.
A meeting was conducted last Tuesday by the National Media Council (NMC) to discuss a unified procedure and mechanism for carrying out the telethon. The meeting was attended by TV channel directors.
The telethon had by Sunday raised over Dh79 million in donations.
The donations were received at RCA branches, the authority’s call centres, at some commercial centres and through SMS.
