Dubai: A Pakistani teenager on a visit to Dubai has been reported missing since Monday morning.

Ammar Ateeuddin, 17, had gone out on an errand at 11.30am in the Gold Souq area where he lives with his family and never returned, said the boy's father, Ateeuddin Moinuddeen, who is co-owner of a diamond trading firm in Dubai.

According to Moinuddeen, Ammar, who is a grade nine student in Pakistan, came to Dubai to visit on April 27 with his mother and younger brother.

"He is a normal boy, like any other teenager of his age would be. There was no problem with him and he was very happy. On May 21, he went down around 11.30 in the morning and never came back," said Moinuddeen, who has been in Dubai for more than two decades.

Moinuddeen filed a complaint about his son missing, at the Naif Police Station on Monday, but so far there hasn't been any breakthrough.

"They [the police] are conducting the investigation and so far they haven't told me anything," added the worried father-of-seven.

Ateeuddin is the fourth of Moinuddeen's six sons and a daughter and according to him the teenager had no friends here.
