Dubai: Dubai Police have added a new superbike to its extensive and expensive supercar fleet.
The new addition, which is a Can Am Spyder, was officially revealed on Monday in the presence of Maj Gen Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, Brigadier Anas Al Matroushi, Director of the Transport and Rescue Department, and Maj Gen Abdul Rahman Mohammad Rafei, Assistant to the Police Chief for Community Services and Preparations.
Maj Gen Al Mazeina said the bike is capable of being used for regular police work, but it will mostly be used like the supercars, in tourist and heritage areas.
He said they always seek to have up-to-date vehicles and equipment at Dubai Police, adding that their main aim in adding this bike is to enhance the security presence in tourist areas in the city.
Dubai Police had brought in the first of its supercars, the Lamborghini Aventador, in April 2013.
Dubai Police already have multi-million dirham cars such as the McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes SLS, Nissan GTR , Mercedes SL 63, Ferrari FF Bentley Continental GT, Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti Veyron, Aston Martin One-77, Audi R8, Mercedes G-class Brabus.
The force also has a 10-metre-long superboat that was built by the Victory Team and was recently showcased at the Dubai International Boat Show 2014.
All the vehicles are decorated in the police’s white and green livery.
The super patrol cars were a brainchild of Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security.
The supercars are part of the Transport and Rescue Department at Dubai Police.
