Abu Dhabi: For Catholics and Protestants, Easter falls on April 12, while for Orthodox Christians, it falls one week later on April 19.
The day commemorates the ending of the 40 days of Lent and celebrating Jesus Christ's resurrection after his crucifixion on Good Friday. For the young ones however, Easter is a day to look forward to because of the egg hunts and the Easter bunny.
Christian communities in Abu Dhabi come together to celebrate the occasion by attending Easter mass followed by get-togethers, either with family and friends or with other members of the congregation.
"I usually go with my family to the midnight mass the night before Easter. Parishioners bring coloured eggs and give them to the priest who puts them in a big basket. Afterwards, they are shared out to everyone," said Nisreen Zahlawi, a Syrian Greek Orthodox.
"We usually go to the morning Easter mass then meet friends to celebrate at a hotel," Kinda Salloum, a Lebanese, said.
For Ryan Rowe, an Anglican, Easter holds fond memories.
"When I was young, I would go with my family every Easter from our home in Montreal to a small town to pray in the church my parents married in," he said.
They would first have breakfast with his grandparents then go to church, and later go out for lunch and later play the game of Easter egg hunt.
