Dubai: The Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) is bowing out in style this weekend with The Midnight Fashion Show and the Biggest Makeover.
Held at the Dubai Mall, the fashion show will start on Friday night and roll into the early hours of Saturday. The Biggest Makeover event will also take place in the mall on Saturday.
The two events are the final leg of a four-part series under Dubai Fashion, a DSF attraction.
The Midnight Fashion Show will present the works of a variety of designers and highlight the extended DSF trading hours of the Dubai Mall, which closes all through the festival at 1am. Held at the Dubai Mall Catwalk near the Fashion Avenue, the show will feature eight models, who will grab the spotlight during three shows at 12am, 12.25am and 12.45am, each of which will run for approximately 12 minutes.
The fashion ambience will be carried forward the next day, February 2, with the Biggest Makeover, a 10-hour marathon of beauty that starts at 11am and runs to 9.30pm.
The Dubai Mall’s Fashion Catwalk will host 30 make-up stations, all staffed by experts who will attend to the participants. Sponsored by Paris Gallery, the event will give its participants a “Day Look” from 11am to 4.30pm and an “Evening Look” from 5pm to 9.30pm, using accessories from some of the leading names in global fashion such as Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Shiseido, Dior, Lancome and more.
Dubai Fashion, presented by DSF organisers Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, opened last week with Express Fashion, the “first-ever fashion show on a moving train” — the Dubai Metro — in the region.
The second Dubai Fashion show, the Street Catwalk, was staged on the sidewalks of the Dubai Mall Fountain Promenade last Saturday, featuring more than 100 professional and amateur models showcasing the creations of local and international designers. The fashion show included children, many of whom were drawn from among Dubai’s residents and visitors of a multitude of nationalities.
An annual event running since 1996, this DSF started on January 3 and ends on February 3.
The month-long festival features bargains, raffle prizes such as cars, cash and gold, stage shows and street performances, and more leisure and dining options.
