Abu Dhabi: Slaughterhouses across the capital are gearing up for the upcoming Eid Al Adha festival, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement on Sunday.

This year, nearly 2,700 animals are expected to be slaughtered at the Automated Slaughterhouse as part of slaughtering services provided by the Red Crescent Authority. In addition, facilities in Al Mina, Bani Yas and Al Shahama will offer slaughtering services for individual residents. Nearly 14,500 animals are expected to be slaughtered among the three facilities.

The municipality also called on residents not to undertake animal sacrifices at facilities other than the designated slaughterhouses in order to protect public health. Vets will also check all animals at these facilities before slaughtering.

There will also be no changes to established fees during the Eid period, and services will be available from the end of the Eid prayer onwards until 6pm on the first day of Eid, as well as from 6am to 6pm on subsequent days of the occasion.
