Dubai: Elections for the Pakistan Association in Dubai are likely to be delayed due to a row between rival groups over membership of voters.

Rival groups contesting the elections for the most popular social and welfare organisation of the Pakistani expatriates in Dubai, have locked horns accusing each other over the election procedure.

The issue has been so hot that the officials at the Pakistan Consulate General in Dubai had to intervene in a bid to resolve the issue.

However, the rival groups failed to reach consensus at a meeting called by the consulate on Sunday. Another meeting is expected today.

A consulate official said that they hope to resolve the issue amicably because both the groups have to work together for the welfare of the community and to run the Pakistan Sports and Recreation Club, which is one of the oldest community clubs in Dubai.
