Dubai: Several key roads will be closed on the second day [Thursday] of the cycling race Dubai Tour.
According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the race will begin at 12.25pm from the Dubai World Trade Center on Thursday and cover areas like Meydan, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, Umm Suqueim, Al Sufouh, Emirates Living area, Atlantis The Palm and Palm Jumeirah.
New Dubai residents have been forewarned by developers of road closures between 2 and 4pm.
A circular from Nakheel to Jumeirah Islands residents stated: “The route for the Dubai Tour includes a number of famous landmarks, including Jumeirah Islands.
As a result, certain road closures as set by Dubai Police and the RTA will be in place between 2pm and 4pm. The loop road between the old security gate and Meadows area gate will be closed. All cluster entrances within the cycler’s path will be closed and re-opened later.”
The Dubai Tour which began on Wednesday will continue for four days until February 8.
Dubai Police has deployed 70 patrols and 85 traffic policemen to supervise traffic movement. Nearly 31 schools will remain shut on Thursday, and some others will close early to avoid traffic congestion.
