Abu Dhabi: Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the UAE General Women's Union and Chairwoman of Arab Women's Organisation (AWO), focuses much of her work on enhancing Arab women's role, image, and contribution to society at home, in the region, and internationally, said Queen Rania, wife of King Abdullah of Jordan.
"Today, Emirati women are making their mark across many different sectors and many different countries, as wives and mothers to teachers and nurses to ambassadors, judges, and ministers as well as key positions in the private sector, and beyond," Queen Rania said in an interview with WAM.
On the efforts made by Jordan to empower women, Queen Rania said: "I am proud of the path Jordanian women are beating; they are role models for all our children and families.
"More women than men, graduate in the country and it is true for more academic fields. So we have judges, ministers, doctors, lawyers, pilots and members of parliament, as well as dynamic CEOs in the private sector."
On the challenges facing Arab women, Queen Rania said: "There are, without a doubt, many obstacles and challenges facing women in the Arab region, but I have faith that with effort, persistence, courage, determination, and confidence there is nothing we cannot achieve," she added.
