Photography competition begins in Al Ain

Al Ain: An international photography competition has been launched inviting professionals and amateurs to explore the beauty of UAE's Oasis city with camera lenses and submit their finest works to Al Ain Municipality.
The top five pictures will be awarded cash prizes of Dh190,000, including Dh50,000 for the best picture chosen by an official jury.
Members of the public will also get to vote for their favourites through the competition's website. The runner up will win Dh30,000, while those in third, fourth and fifth places will receive cash prizes of Dh25,000, Dh20,000, and Dh15,000 respectively.
Mehra Saeed Al Muhairi, director of communications and public relations at Al Ain Municipality, said: "We want to see the city's beauty through your eyes, to capture it and share it's amazing secrets with others."
The competition is open to everybody, including professionals, amateurs and student photographers, from within the UAE and abroad, she said. "We always appreciate talent and creativity and photography is one the best ways to demonstrate it," said Al Muhairi.
Pictures can be submitted until October 23. Public voting will begin from September 25. The winners of the main competition and people's choice award will be announced on November 5.
