Dubai: The family of a 41-year-old Pakistani man afflicted with Parkinson’s disease at a young age is desperately seeking help to get him back on his feet.

Kiran Shafiq, wife of Imran Asghar, said the family has been going through a difficult time as her husband, the only breadwinner, has been grounded. She said with no treatment available for him in either Dubai or native Pakistan, it is imperative that he is taken to India where a hospital – Fortis Healthcare in Noida – has come forward to take up his case.

A report from the hospital where Asghar is being treated confirms that he has been diagnosed with advanced young onset Parkinson’s disease with severe motor fluctuations, besides psychosis, depression and aggressive behaviour.

It said “deep brain stimulation” is the ideal treatment for him but that he is being referred to a higher centre for the same since the facility is not available at the hospital.

Kiran said Asghar’s treatment requires a total of Dh100,000, an amount she cannot raise without support. “I appeal to Dubai residents to please help get my husband treated and save our family.”
